Arctech, the world's leading tracking, racking, and BIPV solutions provider joined Energyear Conosur 2022 at Santiago, Chile on May 25th and shed light on the panel discussion titling “Criteria in the selection of panels and structures to optimize a solar project.”  

The event is under the topic of “The Challenges and Opportunities of the Chilean Renewable Market under debate” which has drawn attention from the thought leaders of the renewable energy sector in Santiago from Longi, Jinko Solar, Trina, and Huawei among others. 

Alejandro Silva Zamora, Head of Chile & South LATAM at Arctech, highlighted in the panel discussion, “Arctech’s rigid trackers have the highest wind stow speed in the industry (up to 22m/s ), which can increase the energy generation by about 2 or 3% yearly. Meanwhile, Arctech’s rigid trackers designed with the multi-point drive mechanism enables it to stow at 0 degree, which can protect PV modules, optimizing the CAPEX.”

The European Photovoltaic Industry Association recently released the 2022-2026 global photovoltaic market outlook report at the Intersolar Europe conference in Munich. The report pointed out that in 2021, the installed capacity of photovoltaic systems worldwide reached a record 167.8GW, and the cumulative installation exceeded the milestone of 1TW. Since 2015, the PV market in the region has grown by more than 40 times. Forecasts suggest that from 2022 to 2026, it could grow at a rate of 30.8GW per year. 

By the end of the first quarter of 2022, Arctech has accumulated 2.1GW shipment in the region and in Brazil only, the company has a 500MW portfolio from more than 50 projects. The company has been supporting clients in the Latam region from five local offices in Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. The team of 40 people with rich experience has been providing engineering, manufacturing and after-sales support for Arctech's local operation in the Latam region, with an intention to source materials for its tracking systems from within the region in response to the favorable policies.

Brazil is a rising star in the global PV market. As of April 2022, the total installed capacity of PV systems in Brazil has exceeded 15GW, with an increase of more than 5GW in 2021 alone. The installed capacity of the distributed photovoltaic system is 10GW, and the large-scale photovoltaic system is 5GW. While distributed PV systems enjoyed record growth in 2021, they are likely to be surpassed in 2022.
